RIDE THE ISLAND

River Action's Father's Day family bicycle ride tradition will return on June 21st, 2026 to the Rock Island Arsenal Island to celebrate America's 250th birthday!

This event runs 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The total route is about 10 miles, but you can make your ride as long or short as you wish, depending on the stops you make and how many loops you want to take!

• Helmets are REQUIRED for all riders on Arsenal Island.
  Don’t have one? You can buy one for $10 from River Action.
• Two repair stations will be available along the route.
• Passes to Arsenal Island are NOT required of registants to participate in this event.
• No headphones or earbuds.
• E-bikes are allowed and must follow etiquette below to keep everyone safe:
• Travel at a rate of speed that is reasonable and prudent, not exceeding 15 mph.
• Announce yourself when passing cyclists and pedestrians.
• Look over your shoulder before turning.
• Watch for little kids who are learning bicycle etiquette.
• Stay aware of your surroundings.

The route leads around the north and south sides of the Island. Turning right on Gillespie, riders proceed south to the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, then turn around and head north back to the bike trail. Next, taking a right on East Ave, riders proceed south to Memorial Park to enjoy food, music, and fun activities for the whole family. Riders will return to the bike path by heading north on East Ave and following the outer trail along Blundt Rd. all the way to Sylvan Drive, where they will head north on Sylvan to Rodman Ave. Event runs 8am-3:30pm.

Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Location: Rock Island Arsenal Entrance Sunday, June 21 from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Same-day registration is available.

A FULL DAY OF FAMILY FUN

Live Music (10am-1pm), Food Trucks, Yard Games at Memorial Park, History Hunt, Sign the Declaration of Independence We will also have voter registration booths for Scott Count and Rock Island Counties.
