Quad Cities Henry Farnam Evening

Save the date for A Henry Farnam Evening on March 26, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at the Rogalski Center in Davenport, IA. This year marks the 18th Henry Farnam evening since 2004. Join us as we hoist a toast to Henry Farnam and explore the history of John Deere. Enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar as Neil Dahlstrom—archivist, researcher, and author—delivers a presentation on John Deere and the Development of American Agriculture. Prior to Neil's presentation, we'll hear from Patrick Allie—Director of the Rock Island Arsenal Museum—speak on the development of water power in the QCA and hear "A Grand Detour" a short poem read by Dale G. Haake, former QCA poet laureate, retired attorney, and public service advocate.

John Deere and the Development of American Agriculture
Neil Dahlstrom has worked at John Deere for over 20 years where he is now serving as the Heritage Marketing and Archives Manager. He has published three books, most recently, Tractor Wars: John Deere, Henry Ford, International Harvester, and the Birth of Modern Agriculture. He will talk on the four key eras of Deere development from the 1830s to the late 1990s.

The Development of Water Power in the QCA 1820-1862
Patrick Allie is the Director of the Rock Island Arsenal Museum. He will talk on the development of water power in the area that helped convince Deere to set up operations in Moline.
