Everett Hamner

Everett Hamner grew up very confused in Southern California because he kept going to both Space Camp and Jesus Camp – plus a lot of baseball camps. After college at Johns Hopkins and several years teaching and coaching in Baltimore, he earned a seminary degree at Regent College at the University of British Columbia, not to become clergy, but to help defuse American culture’s unnecessary warfare between faith and knowledge. He then became an Iowa Hawkeye for his PhD program and a Western Illinois Leatherneck for his last 18 years as a professor. Dr. Hamner [or Everett, as you prefer] teaches and writes about literature, film, and their relationships to religion and science. He has been asking hard questions about climate destruction and ecological responsibility since 2013, a passion that took him to Brazil last year as an official Observer at the annual United Nations climate conference.
