PARKING/ACCESS
Preserve address leads to Amôwa East Entrance. Amôwa West Entrance is approximately 1 mile west. Parking available at both entrances.
SITE CHARACTERISTICS
The preserve is named for the Sauk word for “bee.” The mission of the preserve is to conserve biodiverse habitat for rapidly declining pollinator species. Activities include hiking, biking, bird watching and wildlife viewing. Scientists identified 899 species at the preserve’s recent “Bio-Blitz” event, 493 of which were insects, spiders, and ticks. The biodiversity affirms the need for natural spaces, as insect species populations decline, including that of the Rusty Patch Bumble Bee.
SITE RULES
Off-road motorized vehicles, horses, drones, fires, and fireworks prohibited. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
