Dear Good Citizen,

Do you think our communities are enhanced by the opportunity to walk, ride, skate, or just view the Mississippi River up close on all of our QC riverfront trails? In 1984 there were only two riverfront trails: Moline’s Ben Butterworth and on Arsenal Island. That’s the same year a non-profit organization, River Action, was founded. Its dream was to have public access trails along all the Quad City riverfronts – an ambitious goal.

River Action created an event called “Ride the River” on Father’s Day in 1985. It was a family bike ride along coned-off streets as close as possible to the Quad City riverfronts. There was overwhelmingly positive response from QC citizens and all proceeds were divided among the five riverfront cities to begin plans to reach that goal. Today, in River Action’s 36th year, there are over 60 miles of riverfront trails.

Now more than ever, River Action and its Ride the River event need your support to continue inspiring riverfront trail expansion. Please join us in this effort with a tax-deductible donation, and you or your company name will be listed as a “Friend” on the Ride the River map given to each rider, Father’s Day June 21, 2020. To be included in the map, your donation must be received by June 1.

Thank you,

River Action’s Ride the River Committee
