DAVID GREENWOOD-SANCHEZ

David Greenwood-Sanchez is an Assistant Professor. His research is at the intersection of comparative politics and international relations, and centers on food, agriculture, and global trade. Currently, he is working on an interdisciplinary survey effort to analyze public attitudes toward GM foods in Mexico, as well as a group project to explain the factors behind Central Asia’s potato boom.

Dr. Greenwood-Sanchez recently completed his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation, which is based on two years of fieldwork, explores the politics of genetically modified (GM) crops in Peru and Mexico, focusing on the national identity dimensions of agrobiodiversity and their role within the formation of regulatory policy.

Prior to his graduate studies, Dr. Greenwood-Sanchez worked as a program evaluator with the State of Minnesota and as a research analyst with Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) in Santiago, Chile. Outside of academia, he is an active musician (classical and jazz violin), and grows specialty potatoes in northern Minnesota.
