River Action to host workshop: ‘Hydro Potential on the Mississippi River’

July 18, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Western Illinois University - Moline, IL

River Action will host a hydropower workshop, “Hydro Potential on the Mississippi River,” July 18 to examine America’s first renewable energy source – water.

The workshop at Western Illinois University’s Riverfront Hall is designed to bring together U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state departments of natural resources, developers, dam owners, energy utilities, clean energy and environmental groups, engineers, public works, municipal and city officials to explore opportunities for hydropower in the Upper Mississippi River.

3x3 Adventure Series

This year's Taming of the Slough will be part of the 3x3 Adventure Series! The Timber City Adventure Race, Taming of the Slough, and the Annawan Canal Ambush are the three races that make up the series. Individuals who have signed up for all three races will compete to see who has the fastest total time once the third finish line has been crossed. The one who emerges victorious will walk away with the 3x3 Champions Cup!

Volunteers Needed for Channel Cat Talks & Riverine Walks

Explore the river this summer through a program which teaches participants first-hand about the wildlife, history, culture and geology of the Mississippi River and the Quad Cities through Channel Cat Talks and Riverine Walks, May 30 through September 2.
