SITE AMENITIES
Nahant Marsh is one of the last remaining urban wetlands of its size on the Upper Mississippi River. From the 1960's to 1996, the land was used for skeet- and trap-shooting leaving the marsh contaminated with lead shot. After extensive environmental clean-up, the natural area today encompasses different wetland community types including bottomland forest, open-water habitat and a marsh. It provides habitat for rare species such as the Leopard Frog and Blandings Turtle.
